Getting to Straddie. The holiday starts on the ferry.
Just off Brisbane’s bayside, North Stradbroke Island is an easy trip from the city. One short crossing of Moreton Bay and you’re on island time.
Ferries depart from Toondah Harbour, Cleveland, and arrive at Dunwich. The vehicle ferry takes about 50 minutes; the passenger water taxi takes just 25 to 30.
Dunwich is the first of the island’s three villages. Amity Point and Point Lookout are a short drive or bus ride away, and each has its own character, beaches and places to stay.
